An iron fence keeps the yard in and the view open. Children and dogs stay on your side of the line, the street still sees your house instead of a wall of boards, and a pool inspector signs it off.

Most people come to it from a wood fence that rotted out at the posts twice. Steel and aluminum do not rot, termites cannot eat them, and a powder coat holds its color without a staining weekend. Dallas and San Antonio both cap a solid front-yard fence at four feet or less, so an open iron fence is what goes in front of the house, and our crews put up more of it than anyone in Texas.

Five iron and aluminum fence styles, and not one callback across twenty thousand fences last year

Pick the style standing in your own yard, with somebody who has built all of them, and let the yard decide. Each one is for a different yard and a different buyer.

  • Spear Top built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Spear Top

The classic ornamental profile, and the usual pick for curb appeal on a front elevation. Pointed picket tops, an open sightline straight through the fence, and a finish that holds without a staining weekend. See the ornamental picket profile.

  • Flat Top built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Flat Top

Level picket tops sit quieter against a modern facade. You keep the open sightline and the low upkeep without the formality a spear top brings to a front yard. It is the calmer of the two ornamental profiles. See how the two profiles differ.

  • Pool Code built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Pool Code

For any yard with a pool. Picket spacing, height and gate hardware follow the Texas residential barrier rules. Children cannot get to the water unattended, and your inspection goes through the first time. See the barrier rules we build to.

  • Puppy Picket built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Puppy Picket

For owners with small pets. A second row of shorter pickets closes the gap along the bottom of the fence. A terrier stays in your yard, and the fence keeps the open ornamental look you paid for. See how the lower pickets close the gap.

  • Three Rail built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Three Rail

For a long perimeter or acreage where you want the view kept and the boundary marked. Open horizontal rail, no privacy, and far fewer pickets to carry across a run measured in hundreds of feet.

Pick the material, the height and how many feet of fence, and the calculator shows the market range for a fence like yours in Texas. Then a salesperson measures the real one in your yard and the number comes back the same day.

What a new iron and aluminum fence costs in Texas

HomeGuide and Angi put ornamental steel and wrought iron at $45 to $90 a foot installed, with custom welded designs at the top of that range. That is a standard six-foot fence on flat, clear ground, before tear-out, gates and slope.

What moves your number

Steel costs more than aluminum and needs heavier footings. Rings, finials and a bronze finish add to it. A pool section carries the code spacing and a self-closing gate. A driveway gate is its own job with its own operator, and it belongs on the same quote so the posts go in once.

Why the Johnson number is the one to get

A salesperson measures the fence line in your yard, so the number is yours and not a guess at it, and it covers the tear-out and the haul-off. A hundred crews put it up on the date we gave you, most of them in a day. One year of craftsmanship on the work, and not one callback on twenty thousand jobs last year.

Financing is available through Synchrony, a third party, if you would rather pay monthly. Ask your salesperson for the terms when the quote comes back. See how financing works.

Which iron and aluminum fence you should actually buy

  • Ornamental steel built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Ornamental steel

Steel is the stronger of the two. Pick it where the fence has a job to do, a front elevation on a busy street or a long fence with a heavy gate hung off it. It weighs more, so the posts and footings go in heavier. The powder coat sits over a zinc base, so a chip does not turn into a rust streak.

  • Aluminum built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

    Aluminum

Aluminum does not rust, which is why it goes around pools and on lots near the coast in Galveston and Friendswood. It weighs far less than steel, so a long fence goes up faster and a gate leaf hangs easier. It takes a softer knock than steel, so the yard with a large dog or a busy street gets steel instead.

  • The pool build, in either metal built by Johnson Services Company in Texas

The pool build, in either metal

A pool fence stands at least 48 inches, with no opening a four-inch ball fits through, and the gate closes and latches on its own. Both metals come in that build. Pick the metal on the rest of the yard, and let the pool section carry the code spacing.

The three things that decide how long your iron and aluminum fence lasts

A fence is three things: what holds it up, what carries the load between the posts, and what you see from the street. You choose the last one. We build the first two the same way on every job, which is how twenty thousand fences last year produced not one callback.

Posts set below where Texas clay moves

The crew digs to depth for the height you picked, wet sets the posts in concrete and leaves them to cure. Texas clay moves through a dry summer and a wet spring, and a post set shallow is why a fence leans three years later. Ours do not.

A frame we never lighten to win a quote

Rails carry your fence between the posts. You never see them, and they decide whether the line stays straight. A cheap bid saves its money here first. We do not build a frame lighter than the job needs to make a number look better.

Hardware that never bleeds rust down your new fence

Fasteners, hinges and latches match the material, so nothing streaks. Your gate hardware carries the most weight and the most use, so its size follows the leaf rather than the price.

How your iron and aluminum fence will actually look

An iron fence shows the house behind it, so it should agree with the house. Every one of these is a choice you make in the yard with the salesperson, and none of them changes the quote much.

A flat-top ornamental steel fence along a front lawn, with a matching walk gate set into it
  • Spear top or flat top

A spear top reads formal and is what most people picture in front of a brick house. A flat top reads quieter and suits a newer elevation. Both run the same posts and rails, so the choice is the look.

  • Black or bronze

Black is the usual pick and disappears against planting. Bronze warms up against tan brick or limestone. The color goes on at the factory, and there is no repainting.

  • Rings and finials

Rings between the rails and a cast finial on each post dress the fence up. The plain picket fence is what most established neighborhoods ask for, and it is the one an HOA has usually seen before.

  • How the rails sit

Two rails on a four or five foot fence and three on a six. The rails rack, so on a slope the pickets stay plumb while the rails follow the ground, and the fence reads as one line instead of a staircase.

  • The gate

A walk gate matches the fence and hangs on the heavier post. A driveway gate is its own job with its own operator, and it goes on the same quote so the posts go in once.

A slope or a pool does not make it a custom job

Iron racks on a slope, so the pickets stay plumb and the rails follow the ground without a stepped line. A pool section carries the code spacing and a self-closing gate, and the rest of the fence keeps the profile you picked. A small dog that fits between the pickets gets a puppy picket band along the bottom. A bed that runs under the fence line stays where it is. None of that counts as a custom job on our quote, which is why a salesperson measures the yard rather than pricing it off a map.

One price covers the whole job, tear-out to walk-through

The quote covers the tear-out, the haul-off and the new fence, one number in writing. This is what that means on your property, and none of it lands on you.

A banded bundle of fence pickets leaving the Johnson yard on a forklift

Your old fence leaves on our truck, concrete and all

The old panels, rails and pickets come down first. The old posts come out with the concrete still on them, and all of it leaves your property on the truck. Nothing stays buried in your yard and nothing sits at the curb for you to deal with. This is a full replacement, so we take the whole fence, not a section of it.

The crew walks the fence line with you before it drives away

Every gate on your property is swung, squared and latched. The crew picks the debris up off your yard, and it leaves with the truck. Then you walk the finished run with the crew, before anyone drives away, and you say whether it is right.

How it works

A hundred crews, so the date we give you is the date you get

  1. You call, or you send the form

A salesperson picks up when one is free. Otherwise you get a call back, almost always the same day.

  2. You get a rough number on the phone

We price from your address before anyone drives out, so you know early whether we are in your range.

  3. A salesperson measures in your yard

The salesperson measures your fence line in feet. You pick the height, the style and the grade standing where the fence will go.

  4. Your quote comes back the same day

One number, in writing, with the scope written next to it. Nobody stands in your kitchen waiting for a signature.

  5. Work starts in about four days

A hundred crews means one is free when you are. It loads every material at our yard before the truck leaves, so it reaches you able to finish the job.

  6. The crew finishes and you walk it

Most jobs finish the day they start. You walk the fence, the gates and the cleanup with the foreman before anyone leaves, and you say whether it is right.

Where we work

Your crew works out of your metro, not a truck from another city

A hundred crews run out of seven offices across four Texas metros, and the one nearest your address is the one that shows up. Your crew is never a truck from another city, so your date does not wait on one.

  • These guys are great 😊 👍 They charged almost $900.00 less than three other companies for the same metal, coating and paint for my black metal fence in Del Webb of The Woodlands…Thanks Matthew.

  • Great work. We had two gates installed in the back yard and all fence posts wrapped in cedar. Turned out amazing. Great communication and pricing was fair. I’d use Johnson Services Company again.

Common questions about a new iron and aluminum fence

How long does the work take?

Most back yards finish the day the crew starts, because the crew counted and loaded every material before the truck left our yard. A long fence, heavy gates or a stubborn tear-out can take it into a second day, and your salesperson gives you the day count before you sign anything.

Do you haul the old fence away?

Yes, all of it. The old panels, the old posts and the concrete they sat in leave with the crew that day. Removal and haul-off are in the one price, never a line added to your bill afterward.

Do I need a permit for a new fence?

A residential fence in Texas rarely needs one. Your city or your HOA can still cap the height or set which side the finished face goes on. We check both before a post goes in the ground, which is one of the reasons the date holds.

What does the warranty cover?

One year of craftsmanship on every job, and across more than 20,000 jobs last year not one customer needed it. It covers our work: how the posts sit, how the frame hangs, how the gates swing and latch. Materials carry whatever their maker puts on them.

How soon can you start?

About four days after you sign the quote, on a typical job. A hundred crews means one is free when you are. Storm weeks run longer, and your salesperson will tell you plainly when that is happening rather than let you find out.

Can I pay for a iron and aluminum fence monthly?

Yes. Financing is available through Synchrony, a third party. Ask your salesperson for the terms when your quote comes back. Then build the fence that fits the payment you are comfortable with.
