A hyperscale perimeter runs past a mile of line in two or three fence types, with vehicle gates, pedestrian gates and operators at every opening, and every element of it exists to make climbing slow, cutting slow and driving through impossible. The harder question on that job is not which welder does the prettiest corner. It is who can measure the fence line, load the steel and hold crews on site for weeks without missing a day.
That is a staffing problem before it is a fence problem, and it is the one we exist for. A hundred crews out of seven Texas yards, two million feet of fence last year, and the allocation that comes with being Master Halco's largest customer in the world. The perimeter date is won before anyone digs, and we win it.
What goes into a data center perimeter, and we build all of it
Six words carry most of the difference between a data center fence and an ordinary commercial one. We price all six, and the bid shows them by name.
Anti-climb 358 mesh and welded wire
Openings too tight for a boot toe, so the diamond a standard chain link hands a climber is gone. On the outer line and on the inner fence around the generator yard.
Nine-gauge and six-gauge chain link
The thicker wire takes far longer to cut. Galvanized or black vinyl coated, eight to twelve feet, with barbed or razor topping on an arm.
Eight-foot ornamental steel perimeter
Welded steel pickets in powder coat where the campus edge faces a road and the owner wants the perimeter to read as architecture rather than a compound.
Crash-rated gates, M30 and M50 P1
A tested assembly, gate leaf, posts and foundation together, on every vehicle approach. A substitute post voids the rating, so we substitute nothing.
Gate operators listed to UL 325
Cantilever slide gates and swing gates on operators built to ASTM F2200 Class IV, the restricted-access class, with two independent entrapment protections in each direction of travel and monitored sensors.
Schedule 40 terminal posts and clay footings
The terminal and gate posts carry the whole line's load, and in Blackland clay a crash-rated gate post drives a deep, wide footing. It is a real line on our bid, priced rather than buried.
Built to the spec the security consultant wrote, not the brochure
Texas wind sizes the fence and the soil sizes the post. ASCE 7-22 treats a near-solid perimeter panel as a freestanding wall, and anything with less than 30 percent open area counts as solid, so the end panels, the corners and the tall posts flanking a gate carry the highest loads on the site. The code sizes every post as a cantilevered pole whose embedment grows with the wind and shrinks only as the soil gets stronger, and Texas clay is not strong soil.
The gate is where a perimeter gets won or lost. An automated gate on a restricted site is a listed system: every entrapment zone protected two independent ways in each direction, every external sensor monitored so the operator drops to constant pressure on a fault. We hang the gate, wire the operator and hand over the documentation, so the rating belongs to the assembly you paid for.
A crew count means nothing without steel on the truck. Master Halco's largest customer in the world does not wait on an allocation, and the crews on a Texas data center site come from a yard in that metro rather than a truck from another one.
How the job runs on a live construction site
One person owns the perimeter from the walk to the punch list, and every crew on the site works to that person with the same spec sheet. The line goes in by phase behind the civil work, gates and operators last, so the pad crews keep their access. Nights and weekends are ordinary, and so is coordinating with the security integrator who owns the cameras on the same posts.
What to send so the bid comes back complete
Send the plan set, the fence spec with its mesh, gauge and post schedule, the gate schedule with crash ratings and usage classes, the soil report if you have one, and the date the pad will be ready. We price the drawings, and we tell you where the drawing and the ground disagree before you award anything.

How long does it take to fence a data center perimeter?
The line itself is a matter of crews and weeks, not months, because we can put more than one crew on it at once. The gates set the tail: a crash-rated assembly and its operators come in on a lead time, so the earlier the gate schedule is final, the earlier the site closes.
Can one contractor cover data center sites in more than one Texas metro?
Yes. Seven yards in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio, each with its own crews, and one commercial team across all of them. A developer building in Garland and Hutto talks to one person.
What happens if a crew does not show up on a scheduled day?
