What your money buys
Steel or aluminum pickets run between two or three rails, with the tops finished as points, and the panels are powder coated. You get a fence you look through rather than at. Powder coated metal asks very little of you. Wash it once a year. Watch the bottom rail where a mower or a string trimmer chips the coating, and touch up a chip when you see it so it does not spread. Keep beds and mulch off the lower pickets so the coating stays dry. Metal does not swell or shrink with the seasons, so a gate that swings true in March still does in August.
