Retail and Storefront Fencing

Frontage fencing to the landlord's criteria, the patio enclosure that makes a restaurant a restaurant, the screening the certificate of occupancy waits on, and bollards where the cars stop, all built outside your trading hours.

The walk is free. Tell us the opening date, because that is the real deadline.

A retail fence answers to two rulebooks, the landlord's design criteria down to the color and the city's frontage and screening ordinance, and the two have to agree before anyone orders a post. Then it has to go in while the center trades, without a customer ever meeting a post hole, and it has to finish before the certificate of occupancy, which is usually the real deadline.

We build to both rulebooks and we build around the trading day. A hundred crews means a screening enclosure goes in over one night rather than a week of them, and the frontage run along a busy pad is up before the anchor opens. Two million feet of fence last year, a good deal of it in front of a store.

What a shopping center buys from us, to the criteria and the ordinance

The landlord sets the look and the city sets the rule. Every one of these follows both.

    Bollards at the storefront

Steel bollards set in concrete where the parking meets the door, painted or sleeved, at the spacing that stops a vehicle before it reaches the glass.

Rails, bollards and cantilever gates that keep a drive-through lane where it belongs.

Coated chain link or ornamental steel around the dock and the back of house, with the gates the delivery schedule needs.

Built to the landlord's criteria and the city's ordinance, before the opening date

A certificate of occupancy often waits on the screening, so the opening date is the real deadline rather than the one on the schedule. Frontage rules, screening ordinances and the landlord's lease exhibit each carry a height, a material and often a color, and a fence that goes on order before those three agree goes up twice. We reconcile them before the order, and the bid says which rule set which line.

A hundred crews out of seven Texas yards is what lets a multi-tenant center get its screening over one night and its frontage before the anchor opens. Two million feet of fence last year, one year of craftsmanship on every foot, and one name that owns the job from the walk to the punch list, so property management carries the conversation rather than each tenant.

  • How the job runs while the center trades

We work outside trading hours where the center requires it. The lot stays open, the storefront stays visible, and the crew fences the work area off from customers before it leaves each morning. On a multi-tenant center we coordinate with property management rather than making each tenant carry the conversation.

  • What to send so the bid comes back complete

Send the landlord's design criteria, the lease exhibit for your area, the city's frontage and screening rules if you have them, and your opening date. We reconcile the criteria and the ordinance before the order, and we build the schedule backward from the day the doors open.

Read these before you award the fence

The specification guides behind this page, written for the person who has to score the bids. Every figure in them names its source.

Questions we get asked before the award

Can the screening enclosure go in before the certificate of occupancy inspection?

That is the point of the schedule. Tell us the inspection date and the enclosure stands finished, gated and swept before it.

Will the fence match the landlord's color?

Yes. Powder coat in the landlord's specified color on ornamental fences, and masonry or fiber cement matched to the center's finish on the screening.

Do you work overnight on an open center?

Yes, where the center requires it. The crew leaves, the area stays fenced off and the lot opens before the first store unlocks.
